The big event that the BAYC community has been waiting for is here, an auction at Christie’s, and the markets have been anticipating this for a while. So is the same thing that happened after the Beeple auction is going to happen again? A local NFT market top or “the NFT market top”?
Well, no one knows; all we can do now is look at sales data and place our best bets.
Big Sales of the Week
What Collectible Market Data is Telling Us
Top 4 Collectibles
Axie Infinity made $129M in sales with a total of 110k buyers who transacted 444k times – a 16% decrease from last week.
CryptoPunks made $66M in sales with a total of 112 buyers who transacted 159 times – a 19% increase in sales volume from last week.
ArtBlocks made $62M in sales with a total of 1,671 buyers who transacted 4k times – a 34% increase in sales volume from last week.
Bored Ape Yacht Club made $27M in sales with a total of 160 buyers who transacted 199 times – a 45% decrease in sales volume from last week.
The biggest NFT markets or marketplaces where you can buy technically any NFT standard on the Ethereum network are OpenSea and Rarible.
OpenSea made $546M in sales with 159k buyers, almost a 34% decrease in sales volume last week.
Rarible made $3.8M in sales with 3,743 buyers, a 9% increase in sales volume last week.
Top 4 New Collectibles in the Last 7 Days
This is our segment where we evaluate the 4 latest best-selling collectibles every 7 days, according to OpenSea rankings (we pick the first 4 with less than 7 days of data).
Sneaky Vampire Syndicate made $26M in sales.
888 Inner Circle made $24M in sales.
The CryptoDads made $17M in sales.
Galaxy-Eggs made $9M in sales.
What CryptoArt is Telling Us
Let’s quickly break it down for perspective:
- July sold $20.9M
- August sold $88.81M
- September so far $42.2M
At our current rate, it looks like this month’s CryptoArt sales are going to be lower than the August sales. However, plugging this data, it seems that we are maybe close to a local top in the CryptoArt sector and NFTs in general.
An exciting collectible is 888 Inner Circle, as there are rumors that you will be receiving a couple of CryptoArt airdrops from great artists in the future.
Looking at all of this data and NFT sales, I can see an exciting future in the NFT space. If CryptoArt and collectibles are doing great, I think there is a future where we will start to pay more attention to NFTs that generate cashflows like play-to-earn assets or lending and renting NFTs.
